If you've got the ball and an opportunity to make moves with it, then by God do with it what you can. The primary target is always the goal.

In the workplace, if you've got an idea that you'd like to see implemented, it's your duty to first and foremost take it to the goal and try to get the idea rolling. If you have the skills to implement the idea yourself, then go right ahead.

Often a drive to the hoop increases difficulty which can only be overcome through teamwork. It is then that a player dishes the ball or an employee shares an idea, allowing for a collaborative attempt at success.

SMID: Thanks for pitching into this fight. I agree!

Often we forget that our role is to 'score' for the team. SCORE may mean very different things to different people with respect to their game/work/life disciplines and responsibilities or roles. In any event, basically the message is TAKE THE MESSAGE TO GARCIA! meaning TAKE THE INITIATIVE and perform your role.

Assists are great and should be an objective on the field. However, generally the team needs goals to win/stay ahead/catch up. In the team effort to win/stay ahead/catch up we should never pass up the open opportunity to score. So many things are at risk:
+team performance
+team confidence and motivation
+individual confidence
+individual proficiency
+expectations
+communications...etc, etc, etc...

If you are open and take it to the hole...score or no score, the defensive team plays you differently. The second-order effects here cause defenders to pay more attention to the guy with the ball on the fast break which opens opportunities for other offensive team players. WIN-WIN.

Take it to the hoop. Dish when you have to, but don't just do it for fun.

The world according to Boom.

42, 18, 15, 2, 1, 16, 22, 21, 19, 11, 5, 17, 3, 12 I've had plenty of fantastic players over the years. You must be #18!

In any event, the sentiment remains the same.

Take it to the hoop! Dish if it makes sense.
